Torsten Gruchmann

is the founder and managing director of Use-Lab. After his studies in physical engineering and a year in hospital medical technology, he was responsible for the practical training of students in biomedical engineering and the management of the Centre for Ergonomics and Usability at Münster University of Applied Sciences. In 2001 he founded his own company, Use-Lab, with the aim of optimising the application safety and usability of medical devices. He is a member of the national and international Standards Committee for Human Factors Engineering and has contributed to the usability standards (IEC 62366-1:2015 and IEC TR 62366-2:2016). He also represents medical technology on the Advisory Board for Legislation and Standards of tekom, the largest professional association for technical communication in Europe, and is Chairman of the Ergonomics / Human Factors Expert Committee at the German Society for Biomedical Engineering (DGBMT) in the VDE.
