is a licensed pharmacist and has been Professor of Pharmaceutical Biology and Director of the Pharmaceutical Institute at Christian Albrechts University in Kiel since 2002. After her studies, doctorate, post-doctoral stays and habilitation, she worked as a senior assistant at the University of Regensburg until 2002.
Her various projects deal with basic research topics on the one hand, and practice-oriented pharmaceutical and medical questions on heparins and other glycans used in various fields on the other.
Another field of work is the development of new test systems for research, quality control, diagnostics and drug monitoring. She is also particularly interested in haemostaseology and herbal products, including their regulatory classification.
In addition to activities in numerous governmental and scientific committees as well as editorial boards, she is a member of the AMK der Deutschen Apotheker.
