Allgemeine und Regulative Aspekte der Veterinärphytotherapie - Von der Herausforderung (Arznei-) Pflanzen legal durchs Maul in ein Tier zu bringen
Arzneipflanzen und Kräuter zur Gesunderhaltung und Behandlung von Tieren einzusetzen, erfreut sich zunehmender Beliebtheit bei Tierhalterinnen und Tierhaltern. Erfreulicherweise auch mehr und mehr bei Tierärztinnen und Tierärzten. Neben der Erfahrung der Nutzenden fusst die heutige Anwendung auf historischen Aufzeichnungen sowie ethnoveterinärmedizinischer und klinischer Forschung. Doch, wie bekomme ich eine sekundärstoffreiche Pflanze legal ins Tier? Rein pflanzliche Tierarzneimittel haben aktuell Seltenheitswert, auch wenn noch ca. 20 auf dem Europäischen Markt verfügbar sind. Erschwerend kommt hinzu, dass die aktuelle Tierarzneimittelverordnung der EU bisher, anders als in der Humanmedizin, pflanzlichen Tierarzneimittel einen regulatorischen Sonderstatus einräumt. Pflanzliche Präparate für Tiere werden überwiegend als Futtermittel, Tierpflegemittel und Biozidprodukte gehandelt.
Das Seminar gibt einen Überblick über die aktuelle Wissensbasis der Veterinärphytotherapie, einen Einblick in die aktuelle regulatorische Situation und einen Ausblick auf die Zukunft des Einsatzes von Arzneipflanzen und Kräutern für Tiere. Diesen gilt es aktuell aktiv mitzugestalten.
