
is Professor Emeritus of Naturopathy at the University of Zurich and Director Emeritus of the Institute of Naturopathy at the University Hospital of Zurich, with corresponding responsibilities in research, teaching and patient care. His main areas of focus in research, teaching and therapeutic practice have been, and continue to be, various fields of phytotherapy and herbal medicine. He is currently involved, amongst other things, in a teaching role on the postgraduate CAS course ‘Phytotherapy and Herbal Medicine: Focus on People with Cancer’ at the University of Hamburg. From 2000 to 2004, he was Deputy Chair of the ‘Institute for Drug Prescription in Statutory Health Insurance’ (Federal Ministry of Health, Berlin) for the compilation of a positive list of medicinal products (focusing, among other things, on phytotherapy), and from 2015 to 2020 he was an advisory member of the Human Medicines Committee at Swissmedic.
